Former Chief of Pediatric Surgery
Based in New York City, Dr. Brian Gilchrist is a skilled surgeon who most recently served as chief of pediatric surgery at NYU Winthrop Hospital, considered one of the top 10 New York metro-area hospitals. In this role, he was responsible for the building, expansion, and maintenance of the pediatric surgery service. Dr. Brian Gilchrist also managed quality improvement, and oversaw the development of pediatric surgery research and the publication of articles in academic journals. Additionally, he performed a large number of tumor and neonatal operations and helped develop the pediatric surgery trauma system. As a member of the residency selection committee, he also interviewed and selected future surgical residents.
Dr. Brian Gilchrist earned his MD from Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston, and stayed in Boston to complete his internship and junior residency at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital. He completed a senior residency at Oregon Health Sciences University in Portland, Oregon, and a fellowship in pediatric surgery at St. Jude Children’s Hospital and the University of Tennessee in Memphis. He completed additional training at Harvard Medical School and Brown University School of Medicine.Experience
